of tools can play out in a bad event, if you're looking for wild game a .22 rifle is good an you can have lots of ammo with little weight . The over and under .22 and shotgun is a nice combo. Carry snare wire, some fishing equipment in your pack . Depends where you are and what is happening , play out scenerios an see if your well rounded in what your thinking of carrying. Also one of the best tools is an axe ,with it you can make about anything, kind of hard to make a cabin with a knife.

An axe is for sure a must have item......of course a firearm is another important item however is material for snares...this would be wire and cord....by using snares you will not only be silent but this will also allow you to save ammunition for an emergency.........another important tool will be a shovel....there is any number of task that can be accomplished with a simple shovel....

The idea of carrying a heavy, weighted, clumsy shovel is abhorrent to me. Why should I bother with a handled shovel, when I can create a handle from a sapling? It's easier to carry only the barest basics of what you need, then, once you get to a secure location, to "fill in the blanks" with your equipment. It also cuts down on carry weight. A pack full of tools does not have to be huge and heavy. You can carry a hoe, shovel, rake, and several other garden tools, without their handles, much easier than you would be able to carry all that and the handles too. Also, snare lines, cable, chain (wrapped about the waistline for carrying, as it makes much less noise that way, & tends to spread the weight out), zip ties, axeheads, hatchet heads, saw blades, needle files, catgut, bowstrings, spider wire, fishing line, bows, bow-making tools, arrow-making tools, files, rasps, knives (in quantity), (oh, yeah, & a rifle with ammo) these are the basics of what I would take, were I to take nothing else. Skills are great, but without tools, Man is useless.
