so are we looking at a short time or long. Most look at about 3 days for short time an set up a pack to get thru the storm kind of thing or to get to a location that is more safe. Then the long term takes over an you set aside longer term food supplies. A lot of things can be done ,freeze dries food, canned food, companies are out there that can set you up to , Wise foods, augasonfarms.com plus more. Water has to be at the top of your list, if hiking a good filter, if at the retreat a good well or stored water.

In Out Of Harms Way I go into detail on the water problem....lets face it carrying enough water are storing enough water will be impossible....the same is true for filters or purification pills....this is one of the reasons for having a predetermined stocked evacuation point......if you happen to live in a populated area it is even more important to have an evacuation point....in a populated area sewage will quickly contaminate any raw water source...no electricity means no water no water means no way to dispose of sewage..no doubt about it will happen.....that is why you must have an evacuation with a fresh water source....a stream. lake, or river, you will have to drink this water.......if you pick the right evacuation point the water will be safe.....

There is a way to arrange a location, as it were, for the purpose of water storage. Most people call them Stock ponds. Mostly these locations can be set up near a river or stream, but often the land does not have the water supply required for a stream or river to survive. In that case it is reasonable to think & plan ahead, & create a water supply. It goes well with a farm or garden.
